Guy Fieri’s show Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, or “Triple D”, has become somewhat of a national cult classic of a show. I mean, who hasn’t seen an episode of Triple D at this point? His spiky blonde hair, authentic interactions with locals, and unique style of featuring hometown favorites are familiar to many. For over a decade, Triple D has influenced people all over the world to travel both near and far to get a taste of flavortown for themselves.
One thing I like to do whenever I’m in a new city, believe it or not, is look up which restaurants have made it to the show and give them a try myself. A number of restaurants in St. Pete have been featured on the long-running show and continue to attract new customers and fans because of it. Get a taste of them for yourself and see why these hotspots are beloved by so many!
St. Pete Restaurants Featured on Triple D
Buya is a ramen house located on Central Avenue in the Historic EDGE District of Downtown St. Pete. Ramen is a wheat flour-based Japanese noodles served in a broth with veggies and protein, and Buya is serving up some of the best in town. They also have a Japanese whiskey selection and handcrafted cocktails that are worthy of equal attention.
Buya’s a great place for disconnecting and socializing. The chill ambiance and music will make anyone want to stay for a handcrafted specialty drink to help them forget about their worries a little while longer.
Short rib ramen and the best gyoza I’ve ever had.

Munch’s Restaurant is an old-fashioned breakfast and lunch diner located in South St. Petersburg just outside of Coquina Key. Founded in 1952, Munch’s promises yummy classic home cooking like “mama used to make”. What else makes this place super cool? They sell old-fashioned sodas and malted milkshakes just like back in the day. Talk about a local treasure.
They have a phenomenal menu where just about everything sounds good and is sure to taste even better. From the Munchburger to their huge breakfast platters, they do it all. Munch’s is known for their homemade sausages, so be sure to try some of their signature dishes such as the maple and brown sugar sausage.

Ted Peters’ Smoked Fish
Ted Peters’ Smoked Fish is a family owned and operated business that’s been in existence for over 65 years. They smoke a variety of fish including mullet, the local favorite, as well as salmon, which is a newer addition to the classic menu. The fish are smoked over native Florida Red Oak for four to six hours and served either as a smoked fish dinner or as their signature smoked fish spread.
Ted Peters’ is a local treasure of St. Pete and attracts tourists and locals alike. It’s not uncommon for people to buy quarts of smoked fish spread to travel home with. It’s also not uncommon to find generations of families who have been eating at this establishment for generations. Ted Peters’ Smoked Fish is truly a must-eat kinda place.

Kind of an honorable mention as it was the original Jacksonville location featured on the show, but this is a food post so the more the merrier. St. Pete got its Metro Diner location just over two years ago and it clearly doesn’t disappoint as the place is always packed, especially on weekends.
Metro Diner is a local diner chain serving up delicious American classics and lots of it too. The St. Pete location’s menu varies from the one featured on the show, but that doesn’t make the selection any less delicious. From lighter fare like avocado toast to the calorie-stacked and customer favorite chicken and waffles topped with sweet strawberry butter, there’s something on the menu for every kind of eater.
